Discover the Unspoiled Beauty of Villa Camilla: Your Ideal Turks & Caicos Eco-Resort
In 1985, the allure of the Caribbean's many stunning islands posed a question: "Why visit the same place twice?" That was until we discovered the Turks & Caicos Islands, a paradise that forever changed our perspective. Providenciales, with its 13+ miles of pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and welcoming locals, became our exception to the rule.
The Journey of Villa Camilla
Just four months after our first visit to TCI, we were captivated by the island's charm. The desire to own a piece of this paradise, particularly beachfront property along Grace Bay Beach, was irresistible. This beach, consistently voted as the World's Best, became our dream destination. After years of searching, we found our paradise in 1987 - a 350 ft wide beachfront property that has since expanded into a 7-acre nature preserve.
In February 1988, Villa Camilla, our Turks & Caicos eco-resort, welcomed its first guests. Our commitment to a sustainable lifestyle, which we fondly call "Barefoot Luxury," sets us apart. We are one of the few properties on this semi-arid island that doesn't rely on reverse osmosis water. Instead, we use rain catchment and recycled gray water to maintain our lush gardens.
The Heart of Villa Camilla: A Family Affair
Villa Camilla is the brainchild of Lawrence & Elizabeth Sulak. The nature preserve is a testament to their love for the island. Lawrence, a renowned Elementary Particle Physicist, has made significant contributions to the commercialization of desalinated water and optical fibers. His team is also responsible for the discovery of the Neutrino & Higgs boson particles. Elizabeth, on the other hand, chairs the board of an early music ensemble after a successful career in high-tech marketing. Their son Lawrence, also known as George, has been instrumental in maintaining the property and managing the staff. Since 2017, he has been leading the marketing and branding strategy as well as overseeing renovations.
The Unique Charm of Villa Camilla
As the first boutique eco-resort on Providenciales, Villa Camilla proudly retains its status as the only privately held nature preserve in the Turks. Since 1987, we have been committed to protecting all native vegetation and enhancing it with locally sourced, exotic flowering plants. Our use of biodegradable non-toxic pesticides has allowed native and migrating fauna to thrive, making our landscape a haven for hummingbirds, woodpeckers, doves, herons, ospreys, bananaquits, butterflies, frogs, lizards, and geckos. Our commitment to the environment has made us one of the last known habitats in the Turks & Caicos Islands for the endangered Giant Erebus.
Our two saltwater pools, solar-heated during the winter, are perfect for a relaxing day under the sun. Hammocks and loungers are available for those who wish to laze the day away. When the ocean calls, a two-minute walk across our property will lead you to the powder-white sand of Grace Bay Beach.
Villa Camilla offers seclusion from other properties, ensuring uninterrupted views at all times. The villa's living spaces offer a breathtaking panorama of the turquoise waters, showcasing a hundred shades of blue. The west-facing decks provide a front-row seat to glorious sunsets, and on clear nights, stargazers might even catch a glimpse of a comet or meteor shower. For your peace of mind, the villa is gated, surrounded by an electronic fence, and equipped with a top-tier security system.
