You smile as you lean back, a gentle breeze fills the cab with a cooling hint of the sea and the sweet scent of morning glories. The cab slows and there it is. Your Villa... Villa Camilla. The tiles of the entrance hall feel cool against your newly bare feet. Around you three doors lead to airy, comfortable bedrooms where even now a tropical breeze glides in off private decks and sets linens dancing. You want to investigate. But a wrought-iron staircase beckons. And who can resist a spiral staircase? Ascending the staircase you realize just how large the space is. And then you see the view. So enveloping it seems almost a part of the living room itself. Khaki sea grasses dot low rolling dunes. A wide, brilliantly white beach slips softly into a turquoise bay so serene you can hardly tell where it meets the sky. But this too will have to wait. For your villa tour is not yet complete. Strolling past the full kitchen and into the living room you responsibly flick on the TV and switch the cable to CNN. The Dow is up. It's cold in Minnesota. And to be quite honest you could hardly care less. The TV forgotten, you put in a CD and as Bob Marley wails out a mellow refrain, you head outside onto one of the two upstairs decks. The west deck there is empty now but it only takes a moment for you to decide where you'll be watching the sunset tonight - rum punch in hand. Above you a large sea bird of some type you don't recognize from home darts, dives, and glides off over the water. And then it strikes you. It's high season. It's a beautiful day. And your beach, the one that's only about 100 yards from where you stand, is completely empty. In fact, there's not another living soul in sight. Then again, your friends are due and may already be making themselves at home in the Guest House. If only all of life were so easy. At least you know it will be... for the next week. That is, when you're not out diving, kiteboarding, dancing, dining and generally forgetting just how responsible a person you usually are.
