A Little Bit of Paradise!!!

Just returned from a bit of a dream. We wanted to snorkel 2-3 times a day right from the beach in front of us. No driving, no boarding a boat with 20-30 other people, just a saunter down to the beach with whomever in our group of 3 couples were so inclined at the moment and go in. 8 AM ...no problem. 6 PM no problem. Whenever. And we found the perfect location and villa, right down the beach from the Coral Gardens Reef. Our first contact was with Beth, one of the owners along with her husband Larry. She answered our questions in a most timely manner, usually the same day. When we arrived at the airport, we were met by the property manager, John, who helped with the paperwork for the van we had reserved and led the way to the villa, taking 2 of us with him and pointing out the important places... the banks, grocery store, the wine outlet. He gave us an orientation of the villa, the security system, and checked in with us several times in the following days. The villa has gorgeous views from the decks and the living room, the kitchen is well-equipped. Each of 3 couples had a bedroom with an outside sitting area and an ensuite bathroom. A/C was available if desired. The property sits on 8 acres with lush gardens and is oceanfront. Put your bathing suit on, leave sunglasses and towel in the villa, carry the snorkel gear to the beach--- and spectacular that is-- suit up and go in. The reef is right there, and when we were done, we got a kick out of being able '"to snorkel home!." We saw rays, turtles, angelfish... each day something different. We could get up early, and without disturbing anyone, exit onto our private bedroom deck, walk to the beach, and jump in for an early morning swim. During the course of our week there, we had the pleasure of meeting Beth and Larry, who stayed in the guesthouse on the property, and had arrived to supervise the construction of the new swimming pool. What a week it was! What a location! Privacy, beautiful sunsets, wine and meals on the balcony....and snorkeling home!!!

This property is WONDERFUL.

Our family of five stayed there for 10 days and enjoyed every minute. It was gorgeous, well-located, and perfect for a family vacation. Villa Camilla is tops in all of my three big criteria: Loveliness, location, and functionality. First, loveliness: The house is so unique, so adapted to its locale! The entire back side is screened, a huge rose window open to the breeze. The only enclosed spaces in the house are the three bedrooms and their ensuite bathrooms, all on the ground floor; the living room, dining room, kitchen, and two-story foyer are open to this screened back. The front of the house, meanwhile, has an enormous round window looking out to the beach, and views all around and from the two spectacular decks. Every member of my family literally GASPED when they came up those spiral stairs and looked out that big round window. Can such turquoise water, such white sand even exist??? The unique layout of the house led to constant gentle breezes through the house, such that we almost never used air conditioning. The house is decorated in a relaxed, comfortable style well-suited to family life. It is tasteful, with original art and conch shells holding open the door screens, but in a low-key style - just basic finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms, no marble or granite. The bright colors are well matched to the vivid colors of the landscape outside. Second, location: Villa Camilla is on Grace Bay, where everything is, but on a quieter stretch with very few people on the beach in front of the house. It's set a little back from the beach, behind some grassy dunes - much better than many of the beachfront condos etc. where you can see right into the living rooms. A few minutes to the right is Coral Gardens reef, with fantastic snorkeling. A max. ten-minute drive will bring you to all the good restaurants, or a walk next door to a Mexican beach cafe. One negative point is that there is a half-finished hulk of a resort next door; it doesn't much affect the view, however. The house itself is on a large 5-acre parcel with beautiful landscaping - this means lots of privacy, with nothing but the occasional glimpse of the guesthouse occupants. Last, functionality: The house had everything a family needs. The only gap, perhaps, was spotty internet. The local managers, John and Laura, were lovely - available, helpful, knowledgeable. The owner, as well, was lovely - easy to work with, flexible, reasonable.

Unique home on naturally landscaped grounds about 200 yards through dunes to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world with good snorkeling. You are basically staying at one of the last undeveloped resort properties on Grace Bay. Walking distance to many of the resorts but you'll need to rent a car to take full advantage of what the island has to offer. 3 bedrooms each with their own private bath perfect for 3 couples or family with older kids who value independence and don't want a "packaged, all inclusive" holiday. Our hosts (John and Laura), met us at the airport and helped us through the week. They immediately made us feel at home and recommended local restaurants, snorkeling sites and arranged daily excursions. We felt as if we had our own personal concierge. All in all a wonderful property and a great location! Rating: 5/5

Relaxation at its best

Six of us had a wonderful time enjoying this villa with 3 private bedrooms and baths, and its beautiful tropical surroundings. The best part was the setting is very private with wandering path (2 minutes) to an excellent beach with relatively few tourists. Villa is along Grace Bay within walking distance along the beach or a short drive to restaurants and other hotels and amenities. If you are looking for relaxation and seclusion, this is a great place on a beautiful island. Laura and John met us at the airport and accomodated all our needs with a gracious smile. Enjoy! The Best Kept Secret on Provo

My family and I are sophisticated Caribbean/island travelers (Cap Juluca-Anguilla), Caneel Bay (St.John USVI), Hotel Marquesa (Key West), Elbow Beach (Bermuda), etc.). We have visited Provo six times in the last eight years and Villa Camilla is the only place for us in T&C. The Villa exudes understated elegance - I have always thought that crystal chandeliers have no place at the beach - and the views from the living room and sunset deck are to die for! Five acres of native flora around you,and the beach in front of VC is all yours - seriously there will be no one at your elbow, or anywhere near your elbow. The two-ply jade and turquoise water will dumbfound you the first time you see it. You can stand in water up to your shoulders and still see your feet. Beth and Larry are gracious, lovely people with a true passion for Provo and Villa Camilla. Do yourself and your family a big favor, come to Villa Camilla, live in a home with an intimate, very private feel that cannot be matched by the most opulent, cookie cutter condo or noisy, crowded resort.
